Twitter is a micro blogging service started in 2006. Through Twitter people communicate to outer world and express their concerns. Twitter is a free social networking site, Thus generating no Revenue. People regularly update their twitter accounts by giving new status message which is also know as Tweets.

The Updates are shown in the User Profile and displayed to those who are following that User. Twitter had by one measure over 3 million accounts and by another, well over 5 million visitors in September 2008 which was a fivefold increase in a month.

Orkut.com

Orkut was developed by Orkut Büyükkökten in June 2004, Its the one of the best and easiest social networking site. Even though it not used by majority in USA and Canada but its the most popular site in south Asian countries like India, Pakistan and even some of the more countries like Brazil. It is most visited by users in Brazil then in India.

Its the 4th most visited Social Networking site after Facebook(Traffic Rank = 5) , Myspace(Traffic Rank = 7), Friendster(Traffic Rank = 40) having a Traffic Rank of 66.

There are many more sites than claims themselves as Social Networking Site aren't so I have not included them on this list.

Orkut runs under Google Inc which helped it to grow till what it is now, But I feel Orkut is the coolest Social Networking Site ever.
